Collective Membership

What is Collective Membership?

Collective membership of 紳士漫畫is open to national and regional associations recognized by the 紳士漫畫Executive Committee as being representative of political science in their respective countries or regions. Associations must be open to all, regardless of academic, gender or social status, on a membership basis, and represent most regions and universities of their respective countries or groups of countries within a region.

Each collective member is represented on IPSA鈥檚 central governing organ, the 紳士漫畫Council, by one, two or three members. The 紳士漫畫Council lays down broad policy guidelines for the Association and elects the 紳士漫畫Executive Committee, which is charged with responsibility for the conduct of the affairs of 紳士漫畫between congresses.

Collective members of 紳士漫畫pay an annual contribution fee based on a table of payments approved by the 紳士漫畫Council.

How to Apply?

National and regional associations of political science joins 紳士漫畫Collective membership through a candidacy and selection process led by the 紳士漫畫Secretariat and the 紳士漫畫Committee on Membership and Participation, and ultimately approved by the 紳士漫畫Executive Committee.

Any leader of a national or regional association not already member of 紳士漫畫interested in joining IPSA, or simply wishing to gather information, should contact membership@ipsa.org. The membership director will evaluate a possible candidacy through a preselection process. If the association is deemed ready to join IPSA, it will then be invited to submit a candidacy through a formal application process.

Any application for collective membership should be directed to the 紳士漫畫Secretariat at membership@ipsa.org, and must include the following documents:

  1. The filled information form;
  2. The constitution of the association as a legal entity.
  3. A statement of the financial resources of the association (budget and bank statement).
  4. A list of members of the executive committee together with their institutional affiliations.     
  5. The list of members of the association and a statement indicating that they represent most political scientists in the country or region.     
  6. Information about the activities of the association, including academic meetings and publication. 
  7. An outline of the future academic plans of the association.

Once judged complete, the application is then sent from the Secretariat to the 紳士漫畫Committee on Membership and Participation that will evaluate the candidacy and submit its opinion to the 紳士漫畫Executive Committee that will ultimately approve or not the candidacy.

There shall normally be only one collective member from a country. If, in any country, two or more eligible groups are candidates for collective membership the executive committee may, as its discretion, seek the establishment of a joint committee to which collective membership may be granted, or it may admit one or more of the groups collective members.
